We have been trained to professionally inspect and certify PPG and PG wings, by Eugen Schussman, master rigger since 1990, now working exclusively for Swing gliders in Germany.

In addition, Gabi Siegl, head seamstress for Swing since 1995, instructed Elisabeth Guerin in all areas of glider repair.

We chose the Swing team in Germany because of impeccable reputation they share for both manufacturing and inspection and repair of wings and also because Swing collaborates closely with DULV for many years.

Both Eugen and Gabi’s meticulous and perfectionist style instruction, taught us excellent techniques and to go above and beyond the average wing inspection.

Inspection

Whether your glider gets intense use or not, it is aging.  It is therefore very important to get regular inspections to fly with peace of mind.  If you’ve had your wing in an accident or incident and incurred damage, if you are thinking of selling your wing, or perhaps it’s just time for its annual inspection, you can send us your wing with complete confidence that your wing will be thoroughly inspected/repaired in a timely fashion and with integrity and honesty.

An annual inspection includes

- Verification of the serial number and production date

- Pull the wing up on hoist and clean it thoroughly

- Complete visual inspection of the top and bottom surface of fabric and the complete interior and cell walls

- Fabric and stitching condition, inspection

- Porosity test

- Rip test (to check the fabric strength)

Inspection of each line for inner core damage and damage to the outer sheathing.

- Measure of each line with 5 kilos of tension weight, comparing them to original line charts and correcting their length.

- Line breakage test (we break the main, intermediate and top “A” lines and measure the line strength with a digital sensor - more lines are tested if the results are not favorable).

- Inspection of the brake lines for wear, proper adjustment and length, and attachment to the toggle.

- Replacement of main brake lines if the glider two or more, years old.

- Inspection of the risers for stretching and shrinkage, inspect all riser seams, confirm the integrity of each attachment point and inspect the trimmers, quick-links, keepers, pulleys, snaps, speed system and toggles.

- Replacement of worn rubber O rings.

Upon completion, you receive a written report of the inspection and all repairs with a sticker of “certification/approval” for your wing.

Price for an inspection:  $135 for a paraglider ($145 for a tandem glider - 42+ meters), plus return shipping and insurance.

Repairs

Whether it is a tear across a cell, a broken or frayed line, or major cell wall damage, we can perform minor and major repairs.
