Dates:  November 9th, 10th and 11th 2001

Place:  Polk City, Florida, USA

** "The following is not an official report, but my personal view of this event."

Eric Dufour

About 20 paramotor pilots attended this friendly fly-in organized by Jim Jackson of Para-Lite, during the Wings and Strings event at Fantasy of Flight, in Florida.

It included a Bluegrass music festival (5 stages, over 100 shows), lots of family entertainment, good food and festive atmosphere.

All weekend, flying conditions were good and it was nice to fly with the local pilots.

I did a few tandem rides and played Paraball.  Richad Good and Jeff Thompson joined me at the game.

This game consist on kicking the ball while flying low and/or grabbing it with your feet and try to put it on a basket or else.

The active Parastars group opened the ceremonies, flying in a formation with the American flag flying from many wings

Terry Alford, president of the Parastars, as well as Bill Hocker, vice president, were flying with us.

About 15 air balloons took-off every morning and some of them glowed on the Saturday evening.

Hangliders from Wallaby Ranch center released for solo and tandem soaring.

Spectators could enjoy rides with antique biplanes.

Jeff Thompson and Bill Hocker went to 8,823 ft. AGL for an  altitude record for a Sky Cruiser paramotor before running out of fuel.

We had the pleasure to meet with Lon and Deborah Chaney, nice people from Six Chuter Inc., who were among us.

Lon who operates a PPC school in Orlando area, did powered parachute tandem rides during the event.

The Fantasy of Flight is a nice display of  antique and war aircrafts, in Orlando area.

A nice place to visit for  those who are interested in aviation history.
